What is a R-Value?
R-Value (Resitance value) – The word R-value is used a lot in the construction trade. The dictionary defintion is “a measure of the capacity of a material, such as insulation, to impede heat flow, with increasing values indicating a greater capacity.” R-value is measured in inches and different materials have different R-values. Below is a table that shows different inuslation materials and there associated resistance values per inch. This is a usefull guide that you can use to check your R-value.
