Why Spray Foam?
Spray Polyurethane Foam, commonly known as SPF, is a spray-applied insulating foam plastic that has multiple applications. The foam is first applied as a liquid but subsequently expands many times its original size to create an air barrier and to help with moisture control. For residential homes, SPF can be used to insulate against the summer heat, trapping the air conditioned cool air within the insulated home and can prevent cold air from seeping in during the winter months.
What are the Benefits of using Spray Foam on your Home?
- Spray foam costs have come down in recent years and are comparable to other forms of insulation but have proven to be more effective and efficient
- Proper insulation will help reduce your energy bills
- Unlike other types of insulation spray foam is 100% mold and mildew resistant, making it the absolute best choice for insulating basements, crawl spaces, and any other areas where water and dampness may be present.
- Polyurethane foam is the only product that provides both insulation and an air and vapor barrier all in one. Most batt & poly applications are ineffective because of tears or holes in the poly from screw holes, picture nails, etc.
- Spray foam is also an environmentally responsible choice compared to other forms of insulation as it will last indefinitely
- Spray foam will add strength and rigidity to your home – while alternative forms of insulation such as fiberglass batts or blown-in cellulose will not
- Our spray foam has a true R-value of 6.0 (1-inch thickness), depending on the density of the foam we use. Spray foam is the only insulation product that offers true R-value because of its air seal ability
For homes in Regina and area, insulation is required to maintain the internal temperature – keep the heat inside during winter and the heat out during summer months. Contact our team of residential spray foam experts for a comprehensive examination of your home.
What are the Benefits of using Spray Foam on your Home?
At Sask Cold Busters, we make recommendations based on the needs of your home. We specialize in the use of the 2-pound, closed cell foam for the building envelope because of its ability to be an air and vapor barrier as well as an insulator. Our closed-cell foam can conform to any shape space, and cures to a fully adhered, solid, monolithic insulation envelope. The final product is extremely solid and have proven to add measurable and significant strength to your walls while preventing air and moisture infiltration.
Many contractors will offer a 1/2 pound open-cell foam option at significantly lower costs. While we do offer this 1/2 pound foam option, we recommend its usage only on specific applications (mainly sound proofing). 1/2 pound or open cell foam does not have the air and vapor barrier properties that the 2 pound closed cell foam has, but it does provide excellent sound deadening characteristics because of its porous and fluffy texture.
